Founded in 2020 by Yusuf Abdul-Ali, The Bitcoin Classic is the first-ever basketball tournament rewarding champions in bitcoin. In the summer of ‘22, Cash App was the presenting sponsor sponsored of the two-day tournament in iconic Rucker Park, Harlem. The most storied, culturally relevant court in all of NYC and where athletes like Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Allen Iverson, and many others have played. TBC helps increase access to bitcoin across underrepresented communities through recreation. Eight team competed to win $20K of bitcoin via Cash App. There were 3-point-contests, bitcoin education presentations, bitcoin and swag giveaways, and live performances by Harlem’s very own, 27Delly.
